Hailing from the same Nassau County music scene that produced powerhouse acts such as Taking Back Sunday and Brand New, The OverUnder is looking to follow in the footsteps of their hometown predecessors.
Upon forming in the summer of 2007, the band has since wasted little time on making a name for themselves both locally and via the internet.
Why “The Overunder”?
The OverUnder is a gambling term, thats sort of how we view pursuing a career in music. There’s a lot of chance involved and nothing is ever promised…plus it sounds cool :)
How did the band get started?
Back in the summer of 2007, Drew + the 3 other original members who are no longer with us had started a pop punk band and were looking for a singer. at the time i was still living in PA writing songs and trying to find the right band to play with. i had started talking to Drew online about the band, we had a lot of the same influences so i came came up and auditioned. soon after we started recording songs and playing shows and it kind of just gradually progressed from there.
After a handful of lineup changes, TOU consists of Jimmy Connors (Lyricist/Vocals), Drew Langer (Guitar/Vocals), Mark Sylvester (Drums), Brian Deutsch (Guitar) and Andrew Bilder (Bass/Vocals). Connors and Langer are the only members left from when the band was originally started over 2 years ago.
What bands are you influenced by?
New Found Glory, Blink 182, Sum 41, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, Fenix TX…or any other pop punk band that was popular in the late 90′s early 2000′s pretty much
If you could tour with any band, What would it be and why?
I’d say New Found Glory, they’re probably our biggest collective influence and the band we get compared to most often.
If you were chosen to be in Guitar Hero / Rock Band, what song would you want in the game? How hard do you think it would be to five-star on expert?
That Necktie Makes You Look Ridiculous…i think it’d be pretty easy because, like most of our songs, it’s pretty easy to play on regular guitar.
What is your favorite song to play live?
Mine is Circles and Squares because it’s usually the one that people recognize immediately and it’s more fun to sing it when other people are singing along and helping you out.
Tell us something no one knows about the band…
Our bassist, Andrew Bilder, has a tattoo of the I-495 road sign directly above his “member”. that used to be a secret at least, but he exposed it in a video update which MTV aired at the Woodie Awards so now not so much maybe.
What do you like to do on your spare time?
I don’t have much of it so when i do have spare time i like to do as little as possible. the beach is always a nice option!
“First Come, First Served definitely represents that about us, and it sends a positive message that hopefully other people can take to heart in their own lives.”
Favorite song of all time?
“Name” by The Goo Goo Dolls
If you were a Pokemon, which one would you like to be?
i honestly have never watched Pokemon in my life so i have no clue lol.
LOLWHUT?
